Exotic and happy influences are taking over home decor in 2018 and one of those influences are fringe furniture. It’s a bit retro but combined with bold vibrant colours and tropical prints can result in a fun and ecclectic space.
With more than 14 billion home ideas, Pinterest users turn to the visual site for inspiration. There’s a home and furniture trend that saw a nearly 300% spike in searches, you guessed it: fringes!
This year’s pinners are searching for fringe furniture 275% more than in 2017.
Maybe not a trend to be embraced by the masses but it’s definitely not a reference to miss.
Originally used for furniture as a way to keep textile trims from unraveling, fringe has a long history in home decor, from Victorian lampshades to hippy 60s curtains. Love it or hate it, it’s a trend that always reemerges in fashion and decor.
This year, we’re expecting to see fringes used in throw pillows, draping itself over lamps or weaving it’s way into upholstery. From dainty, bell-like tassels to relaxed, boho leather threads, fringe is back and flowing as free as ever.
After seeing some of the images, though, we can totally see why people would love this trim. It’s gorgeous, maybe slightly impractical, but a beautiful way to boost your home style.
